Welcome to Deda

So, you're dead. Sucks!

Except you might not feel dead—after what feels like a long brush with dreamless sleep, you wake up in a quaint hole: a coffin in an uncovered grave, blanketed in fog. Entombed with you are any personal items (unless they're trial evidence, sorry), and a strange feeling of... lightness? Whatever corruption was in your blood seems to have cleared away with your death, and your injuries are healed, besides any cool scars and lingering aches.

Once you make your way out, a quiet, verdant graveyard (literal) awaits you. You could take a look around the various locations, but the same fog that greeted you surrounds this place, keeping you from venturing too far outside of the town limits.

Still, you may as well get yourself situated. You're not done yet.

Welcome to the graveyard! Here's a quick primer:

You are dead. However, characters are healed of their critical injuries; they may keep any scars or lingering pains that you like. Additionally, they are no longer corrupted. The monstrous force inside you has subsided; this means characters will no longer have powers, etc.

● Setting ● The graveyard has the overall look and feel of a small New England town from the '90s; characters can travel any of the Graveyard Locations, fenced in by fog and forests. But the fog makes this place otherworldly, and strangely permeable. Maybe you can influence your surroundings?

● Living Watch ● Where there are screens, you can view the living side. This includes televisions at the bar, Heaven's Night, and in the apartment lobby—you may even spot a passing glimpse of them in a mirror or glass of water. Only public gatherings like mingles, trial, etc, can be seen and heard this way.

● Items ● Personal inventory transfers over to the graveyard, including items that may be stolen during trial. The only items that stay on the living side are ones that are voluntarily given away. Thursday victims will receive their items in their rooms on Sunday, after Execution. Those who arrive any other day will have their items in their grave with them.

● Injuries and Death ● Characters can still be injured and die here. While characters do not stay dead, please let the mods know if it does happen, so we can inform you of how it works.

● Audiences ● You can audience Death in person, but none of the other NPCs are currently available. You can ignore the note section and go to the apartment penthouse directly to visit, or meet him wherever.

● Effects and Events ● Weekly effects still hit the graveyard, and you may use items on the living unless otherwise noted. Mini-events will go up at the same time as their living counterparts. CYOAs are still available for our sweet deda.

● OOC Notes ● Alluding to the fact that the graveyard exists OOCly is okay, but please keep details of what it looks like, what happens here, plot, et cetera, to yourselves. Feel free to ask the mods if you're not sure about anything!

It ain't gospel, kid. It's all we got to go on right now when we got no answers otherwise. Got some of this from Nehan, other parts from just bein' here for a week.

Okay, so just hearsay.

[ Nehan he might trust a little more, but overall it's hard to convince him without proof that's impossible to provide ]

So what've you been up to this past week? Pushing the boundaries of the fog, I'm guessing.

[ boothill shrugs!! he chooses to believe in nehan and he experienced the tome nonsense firsthand. the only things left to go on are his own senses. ]

Mappin' out the place, tryin'a look for any answers 'bout how we got here or who used to be here at all. We took care of you lot whenever y'all arrived. You can watch the livin' on pretty much any reflective surface out there, but only when y'all were in some kinda group, so we'd stick around the bar for some of that.

[ he's still got his hands up, but he's studying karma very seriously now. ]

That, uh, incident with Yuffie... I'm guessin' that was one'a those monster things goin' on with you. That right?

[ nodding, nodding, deep frown at "you can watch the livin'" because uhh?? sketch. ]

[ there were. so many. ]

[ listen. you are all killing each other. it's hard to not watch and be terrified ]

How 'bout the one where ya' tried to scratch her face off?

She's fine, she can hold her own against me. I wasn't trying to hurt her.

Somehow I'm findin' that hard to believe.

I just want you to tell me if that was you or some kinda monster effect makin' you act that way.

The first time was just me. [ yeah. anyways. yuffie had won that round, actually, so he'll move right along ]

Later... I don't think it was either. I don't hate Yuffie, to start with, and if it was my monster, hating her doesn't make me feel any stronger, just the opposite. Logically, I knew it was irrational, but at the same time I couldn't stop the feeling.

[ somebody else's monster effect???? what a waste of a monster effect, it takes so little to set him off on someone ]

If it happened 'fore I got here, I didn't hear squat. F'it happened after, I was too dead to hear a word.

...She'll be happy to know how much you care about her. You don't have to worry about me messing with her anymore. I'm "dead," after all.

If we somehow get outta all this, I wanna know you ain't gonna try really hurtin' her. That's all I'm askin'.

First of all, we're going to get out of here.

[ none of this "if somehow" bs ]

Second of all, I have no reason to want to hurt her right now. But if, for whatever reason, she becomes dangerous, I will do what I can to protect who I can.

Was she dangerous to you when you scratched up her face like that?

Her existence made me feel like I was losing my mind, so yes.

And you said you ain't got reason to feel the way you did. My best guess is that's gotta be one of them monster powers.

[ which makes him relax at least a little bit. ]

Those four in the masks said we were all usin' 'em willy-nilly on each other. You don't feel that monster in ya' no more, right?

[ Hearing that idea makes him the opposite of relax ]

I don't— I never really have. But if that's the case, isn't that a problem? The ones with that power don't have to do anything but incite somebody else to do their dirty work for them. I couldn't think of anybody who wants Yuffie dead, so I don't know who that would be.

[ was it a mutual hatred curse? yuffie's reaction towards him was more or less normal, so he couldn't tell ]

We got no real way of knowin' who's got what powers if no one speaks up. Bad news is that ya' can set some of them powers off on accident too.

I, uh... accidentally did it to that Kanda kid once. Made his foot as big as a cat.

I see. [ he sees!!! ] Can that same power be used to, say, turn somebody's hands very very small?

So they're still out there, your partner. There's only thirty-some people left it could be... Unless Death can tell us now, I want to make a list of known monsters and their vessels. We can start with yours.

Well... guess that can't hurt. We don't know what kinda powers the other monsters got, after all. Can't do much about them yet while we're still stuck here, though.
