Welcome to Deda

So, you're dead. Sucks!

Except you might not feel dead—after what feels like a long brush with dreamless sleep, you wake up in a quaint hole: a coffin in an uncovered grave, blanketed in fog. Entombed with you are any personal items (unless they're trial evidence, sorry), and a strange feeling of... lightness? Whatever corruption was in your blood seems to have cleared away with your death, and your injuries are healed, besides any cool scars and lingering aches.

Once you make your way out, a quiet, verdant graveyard (literal) awaits you. You could take a look around the various locations, but the same fog that greeted you surrounds this place, keeping you from venturing too far outside of the town limits.

Still, you may as well get yourself situated. You're not done yet.

Welcome to the graveyard! Here's a quick primer:

You are dead. However, characters are healed of their critical injuries; they may keep any scars or lingering pains that you like. Additionally, they are no longer corrupted. The monstrous force inside you has subsided; this means characters will no longer have powers, etc.

● Setting ● The graveyard has the overall look and feel of a small New England town from the '90s; characters can travel any of the Graveyard Locations, fenced in by fog and forests. But the fog makes this place otherworldly, and strangely permeable. Maybe you can influence your surroundings?

● Living Watch ● Where there are screens, you can view the living side. This includes televisions at the bar, Heaven's Night, and in the apartment lobby—you may even spot a passing glimpse of them in a mirror or glass of water. Only public gatherings like mingles, trial, etc, can be seen and heard this way.

● Items ● Personal inventory transfers over to the graveyard, including items that may be stolen during trial. The only items that stay on the living side are ones that are voluntarily given away. Thursday victims will receive their items in their rooms on Sunday, after Execution. Those who arrive any other day will have their items in their grave with them.

● Injuries and Death ● Characters can still be injured and die here. While characters do not stay dead, please let the mods know if it does happen, so we can inform you of how it works.

● Audiences ● You can audience Death in person, but none of the other NPCs are currently available. You can ignore the note section and go to the apartment penthouse directly to visit, or meet him wherever.

● Effects and Events ● Weekly effects still hit the graveyard, and you may use items on the living unless otherwise noted. Mini-events will go up at the same time as their living counterparts. CYOAs are still available for our sweet deda.

● OOC Notes ● Alluding to the fact that the graveyard exists OOCly is okay, but please keep details of what it looks like, what happens here, plot, et cetera, to yourselves. Feel free to ask the mods if you're not sure about anything!

Oh, I do believe you. But I also know some pretty stubborn men who would say the same thing. Gotta be sure, you know?

Thank you. [ And then just. Laughs a bit again. ] Yes, I understand. You've arrived with quite the handful already.

[ Glances over to Cloud and Iwatooshi mingling about. ]

[he deserves to be treated like a passenger princess it's fine.]

Yeah, well...[also glancing at the two of them.] This wasn't at all what I was expecting. I thought it might've only been me, but...I think I always knew it wouldn't go that way either. Guess I was hoping to do a better job is all.

[tactic]

[ Surprise flickers across his gaze before it's tamped out. ]

You did what you could on that side. As for this side, the job has only just started.

I don't know about that, but thank you. [she's still kind of glancing at cloud when she says that, but she does look to aventurine again with a little smile. no time to be sad. focus on going forward.]

Something to do with those break-ins, you mean?

[ Follows her gaze. Hmmm, but back to matters. ]

Yes. Both the break-ins and the strange happenings in the park. A new door appears in a tree there once a week, and we've retrieved two tomes from them so far.

We're still waiting on the second one to unlock, but the first one mentions the ritual summoning of a god.

[residentflorist]

Oh, like our tree on the other side. [as they have seen. but she perks up immediately when he mentions the ritual. she'll look at the notebook later, but.]

Someone over there received some information about the ritual, too. Um...let me see if I remember all of it. [she doesn't have her notes anymore because she's dead but she has a brain, probably.]

"Caution, for the ritual is not without its troubles. The god we seek to bring into our realm might still be a fledgling. A newborn. It needs to be protected and the steps to bring it into the realm completed perfectly, else it just become just as mortal as those who brought it into the world."

Something like that, I think.

[i really hope that's not the contents of the second tome somehow but here we are.]

We're being sacrificed for a newborn baby?!

They're either very confident about their supernatural child-rearing capabilities, or they have never dealt with a toddler in the first place and underestimate how it's like.

[Much less with one that probably can destroy them while having a temper tantrum. Erin shrugs]

Aerith's info says 'might'. For all we know the god will end up being a fully grown, destructive entity.

[erin says that from a logical standpoint but me nick is absolutely sure it would be a fledgling no way it wouldnt be after this was mentioned]

Could be. It sounds like they aren't entirely sure, but are worried if things go wrong it'll lose all of its power anyway.

Rondo-dono shared this with us this week, too. So the question is if we can stop it, and if we can't - what the steps are, exactly, and how we interfere with them.

Aren't the ritual steps already messed up? Their ritual is a lost cause, why keep going?

If they're that desperate to summon a god, then they probably don't care what it takes, even if the god ends up being a newborn. They only care about their end goal and the blood it takes to accomplish it.

[ and that's kind of infuriating, actually. ]

Right? A lot easier to grapple with in the end. [she'll fistfight a god? a mortal god? it's fine.] So it feels like what we need to do is find a way to make sure the ritual isn't completely correct.

Finding out what exactly the ritual is like is step one, really. Good thing that's progressing, with all these tomes and what not. Can't ruin if we don't know how it's like when done right.

[Well, not entirely true, really. From what she knows, rituals can go wrong in new and novel ways even when you do them right. It wouldn't be all that difficult to ruin a ritual, if they get a chance]
