[Erin is looking up at the banner with narrowed eyes]
I kinda wanted to ask about that, but I'm also dreading the answers. I'm begging, you, please tell me we're not supposed to be sacrificed to bring forth some mirthful messiah.
[Not that she's all more eager to be sacrificed if it's not to summon the Clown King, but still...since she has had to take resident in this place, she has had to stare at that ruinous banner and the more she does, the more uneasy the thought of an eldritch clown being the summon target makes her]
[ he is home! the door is open so she is welcome to enter after she's called in. c+ps this
The penthouse, as one might expect of... a penthouse, is more spacious than the studios and built out with actual rooms. It's modestly furnished and nondescript to the point of emptiness: austere, wooden furniture and plain windows, impossibly fogged and streaked with water, even if the weather outside is clear; the sound of rain persists. Atop the desks are tidy lines of jars filled with looted supplies from the pharmacy, tools from the hospital, vials in a stand, and a stack of notes. It's neat, academic, and impersonal. There's also a small, whittled statue of a wolf to the far side.
The 'decor' is otherwise limited to flowers. Drying from the ceiling, dying in vases, dropping petals that decay and vanish before they strike the ground. Two lotuses set in a china bowl, one starting to wrinkle and wither. His Death mask is hung up, but beside it is another fashioned firmly on one of the walls, as though grafted in, swollen onto the wood like a tick to skin. Basically these are the vibes, except less cozy and more surreal, gritty and strange as any of the other rooms. There's some couches and a TV too, for convenience.
death, or nehan, is working at his desk, but will turn to see her in. ]
Oh, you could, by transferring the property of the penthouse to me -- but since I doubt that's an option, I'll settle for second best.
[So, what's that second best way to help her? Well, by giving info, probably. She stands before the desk]
Listen, I heard about what happened. The accident with the machine.
[It's strangely nostalgic to talk about machines that do something crazy, really. She has seen a lot about inventions and the such, ever since she was a teen]
I'm no expert in machines but I had the bad luck of growing up with a sister whose love interest is an inventor coming up with strange things. I thought I should give a very long shot a chance and see if anything I have seen could hint what went wrong with yours or how to solve it.
[Yeah, here she is, trying to pursue any and all avenues on how to get out. Even if it's a very unlikely chance of working out, she won't be satisfied just discarding it. That's just not her way of doing things, Erin will seek a way of making things work out]
Ah, you're going to have to fight Aventurine for it, I'm afraid.
[ he says this wryly, because there's a growing list of people after his stupid penthouse. they can make an inheritance chart. but anyway, he'll gesture for her to take a seat so they can chat. he doesn't begrudge her for trying in any way that she can. ]
I'm not an engineer—I helped the others, but it was largely their invention. If I could tell you more about it, I would. In likelihood... it could've been the parts that caused it to fail. We had to work with what we could order in secret.
We as a whole have been running you ragged for several days already. There. [She puts a glass of Jamba Juice smoothie on the desk. She'd have brought booze, but she has no idea if Nehan drinks, so she played it safe] A drink in celebration for not having to patch some poor fool during the last 24 hours.
[As far as she knows, at least. Still, Erin is also aware she's one of the poor fools Nehan has dealt with, so oh well!]
[ the way they get "i'm on my way" before the surprise full-body video call is actually much more respectable than when the others just zeroed into them suddenly. THEY'RE PREPARED THIS TIME. ]
[Erin's first move is to ask Essek if she can kiss him--okay, nah, hah. She does think he's attractive but she also saw his shouting about his preferences]
Gaze upon this and despair!
[And she shows her rune rock. With a little gun and a rocket pen etched on it]
Seems to be associated to each one of us over here. This one is for Karma and myself.
[There's no need for emotionshare right now to see that Erin is radiating satisfied vibes. Progress of any kind is enough to make her feel joyful]
[HELP ME. Sometimes, you are very pretty, but the DM says you are gay.
The way both of his brows leap up at the first part. He becomes visibly tense, like he expects one of the thousands of pranks that has been pulled on him... but then he relaxes at the sight of rune rock. GODS.]
I see...
[Inspecting this rock without touching it, in case.]
[ the penthouse looks more or less the same as it has, though there's a few updates: there's a dining room now, and additional other rooms, more like a suite; the rain outside is coming down more violently also, and there's some keychains over with the rest of his personal items.
death is just laid out on his couch, staring up at nothing. he'll glance at her after she's called in. ]
[This penthouse is so full of people! And it didn't require anyone getting into an elevator accident. Guess I can't claim this place as my own before we're out of this place, she thinks to herself because, truthfully, first time she came here she pondered how to achieve that, but nah, won't happen. Too many people on the waiting list and too little time]
Hello. Here. [She passes Essek a tiny bottle of wine] Housewarming gift.
[Oh hey, Frumpkin! Turns out you're not a bear, Siz pointed that out to me yesterday, haha]
I'll have to come back with a gift for that one, I guess -- didn't really bring anything because I wanted to ask about his likes first.
[The 'bubble noises' of the link really made me think I'd click the link and find him in middle of the water or something, hah.
Erin sits at the edge of the fountain]>
Nehan.
[A little odd to find him outside of his place, but given how many live there by now...yeah, she thought for conversations it'd be best while he was out of there]
So it's all almost over. Are you the optimistic kind of person somehow or the the pessimist kind who tries to say pessimism is realism?
[How do you feel about our odds of succeeding at not getting a bad end, Nehan]

[ they will pass........ clownery is not for them. ]
Well, I cannot posit any godly aesthetics, but I do believe they intend to take the summoning seriously.
