I do not consider my world to be a 'future-y' one...
[ they have clones but no planes ]
This has a certain level of leisure to it that my country did not have time for, when everyone was trying to squeeze in as much as possible before they died young.
[ scien doesn't want to linger on the technology point because it's fair but there's a stray petulant I invented most of it... he wants some tech he DIDN'T create :(

Don't fret too strongly over it... They live normal lifespans now. They'll get to experience things like games or puzzles, or whatever people do when they have 'too much time'.
[ said in a foreign way, like he doesn't get the concept ]
Just the one? [help she laughs at that scien please
as for the rest, she hums.] ... Yeah. Vin offered to do it for me. And I've still got mine. So - I might. I think Gale's okay, which means I could help Astarion.
Scien, I've been - right before I got here, I accepted I was dead. I was good with it. Made peace with it. And then I got here and there's a magic solution, yeah, when there wasn't before. It's weirdly hard to grab onto.
I don't understand that. [ he's so direct ] You are a person who loves living and being surrounded by others. I'm surprised that you of all people would manage to find acceptance of the end...
[ compared to someone like scien who doesn't have nearly as many attachments, and mostly just lives because it is more convenient than dying ]
scien looks surprised by this—and there's his own flicker of annoyance. it's normally hard to get to him but.
. . . it is monday. and he does know which monster gets summoned. he was just hoping for a 50/50 chance that it wouldn't be like this. for once, he finds himself hoping that he's just being too much of an asshole, and this is karlach finally hitting her limit with him. ]
Not exactly... More like, I prefer learning what types of puzzles exist in the world. I only know jigsaw puzzles. Little pieces that slot together to make a picture.... but even those were foreign in my country until recently.
The universe is pretty vast. There's a lot to see.
[ and, at heart, he is an innately curious person... though he's also an introvert so sometimes he'd just like to look at all these sights by himself or with a trusted person. right now is the latter ]
Only what we've been shown in these rotating locations... They're not bad. I like the new things. The odd tree from last week. Different types of fruit. [ he's probably never seen a watermelon or a mango ] Mountains. Even if all this doesn't feel like someplace that I would choose to be...

[take... take hand... wiggles it.]
You haven't got to, but it will hurt my feelings forever and ever if you don't. [she is Kidding]

[ but he does give paw, sighing. as if it's NOT HIS FAULT that she's getting used to this ]

You can tell me to stop at any time. [uwu
she wanders off towards the booths!] Have you ever been to one of these before? Ash said they're pretty common in the future-y worlds.

[ that's a fun amusement park topic ]

[a beat. wow, that's depressing. a stray thought of fix your engine? ]
Guess so. People die young in Faerun all the time, but it'd be a lot different if it was a promise.

Hah. You make it sound like it's some math equation or something. Which I suppose you'd find fun, wouldn't you, so maybe it's not a good comparison.
... That's nice to hear, though. That people get to live their lives.

... what a criss-cross.

... But I think we can make it work? I just... I don't know what to think about it.

You don't know what to think about having the rest of your life as yours?

[she says, and then kind of just laughs.]

This does not need to be a false hope.
no subject
[not to mention the nature of her canon point means she didn't have time to explore other avenues,]
Maybe I will. Just seems sort of silly to fix my engine and waste a wish when there's the constant threat of waking up dead every Friday.
no subject
[ he doesn't need to be this blunt but here we are ]
It's not like you'll be able to use the wish to interfere with the ritual, so utilizing it for personal goals is the most reasonable course of action.
no subject
I don't want to talk about this. [rougher, than normal.] So maybe let's talk about something else.

she struggles, for a second.]
... You said you liked puzzles. [are they still holding hands... if they are she's going to gently tug him again, so they can keep walking.]
no subject
... I do. Jigsaw puzzles. Though the new ones I find across worlds are good, too.

[off they go - she just wants to walk around the boardwalk, for now. shake off the jitters.]
Wait, what, so you just stick your hand in other worlds and grab puzzles? Is that what you're saying?

I like seeing it at least once.
