And Prism is a dear little friend I made in my travels! A wizard, but not arrogant and unbearable! Just a charming and very clever young girl with a great deal of talents.

Do you think so? It's the first one I've ever been in, so I don't know how these things go.
I know books and stuff like to paint them as, oh once you find the one, there are no problems ever! But it's pretty tricky stuff. Everyone has their own baggage, and now you have to navigate through two people's worth of it as delicately as possible.
That makes sense! For example, Imogen's mother was also slowly being corrupted by a dark force and she lost her to it over time, so she might be projecting some of that baggage onto the dark force I'm being corrupted by even though in my case it's fine!
No. I've had this little problem since long before I met her. [she twirls a strand of hair around her finger.] But I have recently decided that I want to stop... resisting so hard, and instead make use of it for my own ends. Holding back, being timid and frightened of my power - it has only led to me failing to be able to protect those dear to me or to prevent catastrophe.
She didn't disagree with this goal, but she seems to dislike it in practice.
