A CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure) is a plotted event that is threaded in private in which specific characters can obtain plot-relevant information or exclusive items. Players sign up and are assigned to groups. The groups will then go on an adventure, which is threaded out, and based on meeting certain conditions may receive plot information or special items, or may face injury or death.

CYOAs also require frequent tagging over the course of a week and coordination with your fellow players on timing and your schedule. Please sign up aware of your schedule and that, for the most part, you will be able to tag throughout the week.

In this game, we will have two types of CYOAs in addition to mini-events: mod-run CYOAs and Player CYOAS.

Mod CYOAs

Mod-Run CYOAs will involve heavy mod participation. Assuming you previously signed up, your character may be chosen to go on a mod-directed adventure. Players will be semi-randomly rolled to participate, but we will also do our best to ensure everyone in the group has similar schedules to ensure maximum boomeranging.

These adventures will be tagged over the course of the week, with certain objectives. Players will have a chance to gain plot information and items, but in these mod adventures, there will also be a high risk of injury or death. Please sign up aware that your character may be injured or killed, even if you complete the objectives.

Player-Run CYOAs are similar to the above, but are run by a player in the game instead of a mod. There will be less mod participation in these CYOAs, but there will still be opportunities to gain plot info or items, and there will also be a risk of injury or death. What happens in them will be up to the players who submit proposals, with some input and assistance from the mod team.

Both types of adventures must be completed by Friday at 12am EST, but will ideally be finished by Thursday evening if not sooner.

If you've been selected in a previous week, you can still be rolled for another CYOA, but priority will be given first to those who haven't had a chance yet. We do not guarantee every player will have a chance to participate in a CYOA.

Player Proposals

Player-run CYOAs are very welcome, especially as there won't be enough mod CYOAs to give everyone a chance to go on one!

Players who would be interested in running a CYOA for a group of 2-4 other players can submit a proposal below. Similar to signing up for a CYOA, players who sign up to run a CYOA should be sure of their schedule for that week and that they will be able to tag fairly consistently. Although the deadline for proposals is at Sunday at 9pm EST, we encourage you to sign up even earlier if interested so the mods can help you coordinate.

To submit a proposal, you only need a rough outline of what you intend to do in your CYOA. The important thing a proposal should include is tasks players can accomplish, challenges they have to overcome, and and objectives they should achieve. You can also include danger or the chance to fail. Make sure what you want the players to do is something that they can accomplish before the Friday deadline. This will be a hard OOC deadline, and any threads that aren't wrapped up by then won't be able to be backtagged further.

CYOA SIGN-UPS

A CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure) is a plotted event in which specific characters can obtain plot-relevant information or exclusive items. These are threaded in private and involve mod or fellow player participation. Be warned there is a big risk for minor to severe injury as well as other potential consequences depending on choices and situations!

All sign-ups will be screened, and a certain number of players will be chosen or rolled to participate. We will try our best to take as many people as possible on CYOAs. This is usually based on timezones as CYOAs must be completed before before Thursday at 8pm EST barring some emergency Friday exceptions. Please think about your activity and time if you sign-up, but don't be afraid to throw your name in! We will match you as best we can with a group of players with similar tagging schedules.

If you aren't picked in a given week, we will keep your sign-up in the pool for the remaining weeks, and you may even be chosen for a CYOA while in the graveyard. You only have to sign-up once! Priority will be given to people who haven't gone (timezones permitting), but sign-ups may be tapped again in later game to go on another CYOA if bodies are needed.

If time permits and you would like to run your own CYOA as a player, please fill out the form below. We will attempt to fit player run CYOAs into our schedule when possible. Try to have your proposals in as early as you can so we will be able to coordinate with you. We will roll a character team for you from our CYOA sign up pool with similar timezones.

You cannot run a player CYOA the same week you participate in a mod run CYOA, though you may sign up for both.
