Mortuary

housing

Home sweet home, or in your case, a dilapidated building. Of course, nothing is stopping you from finding shelter elsewhere, but at some point you must have stepped into this building or slept under its roof, so this is home; while it's not very plush, do you really want to risk sleeping outside?

There is also a small plaque on the mailbox now with everyone's names engraved on it. Trying to deface it will result in more papercuts, for some reason. The names read:

Astarion Ancunín, Gale of Waterdeep, Karlach Cliffgate, Nona, Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, Vin

By your sleeping arrangements, there are chests to hold whatever items you opt to place in them, which cannot be publicly accessed like the rest of your house. Otherwise, guests are free to come and go or sleep over, though going over the maximum suggested occupancy will be uncomfortable and cramped. Guests will also be unable to access to this post. Characters are also free to stay at any of the other housing locations, with the same stipulations.

Feel free to use this post for any resident gatherings, updates, etc!

For your easy reference: An industrial, cold building with no windows, brown-stained floors, and the metallic smell of blood. Five adult, wooden coffins sit neatly in a row near two metal surgical tables. Often, scratching can be heard from inside one of the coffins. Opening any of the lids reveals only an empty nest of plush velvet lining, perfect for long naps out of the sun. If the lanterns on the walls are still too bright, there is a tiny basement level with two extra coffins, not a sliver of sunlight or lamplight to be found. Additionally, the basement houses a chest with several velvet blankets inside.

Out front, a large, wooden mailbox sitting on a sturdy pole. There is enough room for all deliveries for every individual assigned to this housing.

What do you think it means?

[ thonking. but he'll pass his around for others to read it's fine. ]

`Six is the magic number. Forty was too many. Less than six and it's a bad soup.`

I think perhaps it means that we should not drop below six?

They all seem quite intent upon this number.

But yes, I'm happy to consult with the Overseers as well. Hopefully they can clear up the difference?

That's what worries me.

... My feeling is that we do need to be able to perform this ritual, yes? That is the goal? That we allow the ritual to come to fruition, and from there we are able to adjust it to our needs. The mortal infant god and such.

So going below six would pose an issue for that as well.

Well...

[thinks for a moment]

Don't they need to kill us for the ritual to happen? I'd think we'd want to avoid that.

The details of the ritual are the portion we are currently collecting I believe. In bits and pieces - the incantations and scripture we are finding about the place.

I really think we are going to need to go through with it in some fashion.

[ also, sorry, his wizard brain means he really wants to see what happens! yay :) ]

[personal profile] allomantic 2024-07-16 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if that's the case... Would going through with it but making sure it's a "bad soup" be the answer?
alldoomnogloom: (G24)

[personal profile] alldoomnogloom 2024-07-16 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Vin I have to be honest, I'm really rather hoping the answer isn't that twelve more of us have to die!

I don't want that, either.

... Just in case anyone else is getting this soup metaphor. Bad soup is good for us.

We would like to create a bad soup. But one cannot rush soup. This soup metaphor is becoming confusing.

It seems we will need less than 6 of our number alive by the time the ritual will come to pass, but we cannot rush this process - it will draw attention. We already lose quite a few each week, so perhaps we simply remain calm.

[ butts in. ]

It says at least though, doesn’t it? I don’t think how many there are at the end may be the issue, as long as there’s more than six people here. 18, 15, 12, whatever — it’s more than six?

[ rereads this at 7am ] I.. think? I’m not sure we have the time to kill 12 more people, unless we plan on coordinating at the last minute and going about it that way.

[ the emotions are fairly calm but a little more anxious when it come to astarion here. ]

The soup metaphor has proved confusing. It seems that we would like to aim for bad soup. Though Pestilence seems to to think we are on ... erm. Track. To achieve this without panicking.

That is what the warnings are about. Not going too quickly and attracting attention, or killing too many and we simply cause the cult to call in a new group.

[ his head hurts :( ]

There’s… nineteen of us left, no? Are you saying we need at least 14 people dead in the next couple of weeks?

[ the emotions aren’t anxious so much as somewhere between exhausted and resigned. ]

... So we do want 13 more people to die.

[ since they'd been going back and forth on whether that was a good or bad thing ]

But it's kind of pointless if we don't have a way of them scraping the entire soup [ killing the remaining living ] and starting over, right?
