I did have a few questions, but...[well. she was told she can ask.] Is it okay if we go back to your garden? [let her see plants again.]

It would be a little silly to. We technically didn't even have to go back to you guys, it's not like you all would have been able to follow after us.

So why did you come back?

We're just very nice.

And I'm sure one of those didn't have slightly more influence than the other. [lmao.] I heard that performing the ritual would mean members of the cult get a wish. Is that why you joined?

I joined for scientific curiosity. I wanted to see what exactly this being could do, and the power it would take to make it come forth.

[ They are nearing the foggy area that housed the garden. ]

But, you know. Cults.

I guess there are worse things to study, but...cults. [cults are such a strange phenomenon.] Have you studied something like that before? All-powerful beings and powers.

Not really... Ecology is what I am mostly known for. But things like finding new power sources is something that's of interest, so I thought I'd check it out.

[ They make it to the destination. The fog dissipates enough so that Aerith gets to see the garden again. Pestilence immediately walks over to check it out. ]

Stick with what you know and grow from there. I think I can understand that. [they are here! and it means she's immediately distracted from her other questions for a moment before she follows after them to check on the garden.]

That's why you have the garden, too? [ecology...life...etc.]

Mmhm. Well, that and I really just do like gardening! Death does, too, so it seemed like a good idea. We just sort of drag the other two along.

[ Bonding.

They kneel down to take a closer look at some sprouts that are popping up. ]

Carrots. These here are all veggies, and that plot over there are flowers. Death has herbs over there.

[ They point at each section as they explain. ]

Sometimes you have to. If they really didn't like it, they wouldn't let themselves be dragged into it, I think. [she says, as someone who drags people into things frequently. she kneels as well, not minding that her skirt might get dirty and leaning forward to get a better look. she deals more with flowers but she's very obviously curious about what else is here.]

Looks like they're doing pretty well for a place that's been empty for a while. Do the other members know this is here? [or is this a secret garden from the rest of the cult.]

If they peek in, they'll probably see it. I doubt they'd care, at least. It's not like playing in some dirt will wreck any plans.

[ They put a hand on the green leaves and goes quiet for a second, before nodding. ]

Needs a bit of water.

Do they bother checking on you a lot? [the hills have eyes, but just how monitored are we talking here? and more to that...]

Let's get them some water then. Just because we might get to live here doesn't mean they shouldn't. [is she already up to check for a hose or anything? yeah. and this is sort of a segue to one of the other things she wanted to ask them about anyway, but sometimes you like to keep busy.]

[ There is a useful hose! Kind of on the older side, but enough to get the job done. The other end of it goes deeper into the fog. ]

Every now and then? At the moment, they're probably checking more than they normally would because you all just got here. But I wouldn't really expect that to be the norm.

That's good to know. It'll make it a little easier to buy some more time and try to learn more about the ritual. [that's the goal here.]

...if we were brought here to be a sacrifice, then why the monster affinity? Was that really just a consequence of coming here? I'm surprised they're letting us keep them.

Hm... Well, it's not really like they can just take it away? It would require undoing the whole process that brought you here in the first place, which seems more counterproductive than just letting you all keep it.

[but it might've been a good way to send them all home, but you know.]

Is there any way to change the one that we have?

Not that I'm aware of.

Why? Want to be something else?

No, not really. I think I'm okay with what I have, but I guess I was wondering what things are permanent and what things are changeable. [...] But if I said I did?

Hehe, my answer is still not that I'm aware of.

[ They poke at the dirt. ]

[she's helpin'...she will water where they direct her and she actually seems to be kind of happy doing this. thank you pestilence.]

Just checking. [it's the energy of a wink without actually winking.] So if we can't change, it also means we only get one chance at finding a match, doesn't it? What if...[...well she doesn't like the possibility, but she thinks it's fair to ask.] If something does happen, and someone's match dies before you can find them, is that it? You don't have any other way to make yourself stronger.

[she's not even thinking murder, she's well aware there are some very strong personalities here that could probably get themselves killed.]

But we'll see what happens. If that does happen for whatever reason, there's always the chance we learn something new. That's the thing about this place-- the magic around it is always fluctuating.

I think that's the thing about any place. Magic can change depending on whose hands it's in. [for...better or worse.]
