Uh, this chimera thing for one. Can you explain that in any more detail now that we're not in the middle of a trial? Like, how closely are those two people working together? We're pretty sure we found the last monster from last week now, but I'm still not sure how the chimera thing fits into that. Does that mean that two out of the three murders that week had two people carrying them out?
The two people are closely working together. Their monsters are drawn to each other, as opposed to an individual summoning like what happened with the cowboy. They team up and go after one victim.
This past week, there were three victims, but four possessed people running around during trial.
[ ...okay, well, maybe he can at least logic out the second half of that question himself. ]
So, just to make sure I have all the numbers right and I'm not missing something else — the week before this, it was just Erin, Nona, and Iwatooshi. Right? And some combination of those two was the chimera, and they carried out two of the murders together, while the third acted alone on one victim?
I mean, I guess, but Akabane and Kasuga-san's murders were both pretty fucked up!
[ not that it bothers him that much in karma's case, and he'd totally approve of someone in their right mind killing him, except erin already took credit for that one. so does that mean it was ichiban's?? THE TORN OUT HEART ONE???? ]
Kind of felt better thinking monsters did both of those!
Well, no, I agree with that, I just. Had been under the impression that everything so far had been monster related, so this is one hell of a mental retcon to have to make, you know?
...Yeah, I know that's the bigger priority. The other one shouldn't have any incentive to do anything again if they already have their reward guaranteed, right?
I would rather you all put your focus on freeing those who are currently trapped within their own minds, worrying about when they might strike again while not in control of their bodies.
How much of a concern is the "when"? I mean, is everything limited to Thursday nights, or could a monster just decide to kill someone earlier in the week if they wanted to? And would you expect it to make a difference if they already knew they'd been found out? Like, make them more desperate or something since they're expecting to be targeted.
[ since that is... obviously a pressing question right now ]
Hmm... Those summoned on Monday will only be able to act on the Thursday of that week.
As for the cast of that woman... [ camille, since they can follow the train of thought ] It is not guaranteed that she will immediately act again. That is true for any monster summoned. However, it is inevitable that she will try to act again if not killed or cured.
Mm... I was thinking if we only had to worry about her on Thursdays you could just lock her up in one of those barriers again on those nights, and maybe buy some time if there's a possibility of developing a cure.
[ frowns ]
But I guess her power might make it kind of tricky to even be sure you had the right person in the barrier.
It is not wrong to consider the possibility. The others are more skilled with magic, but they can confer with her on whether this is something we can do.
You're right that it will take thorough planning, if this is the strategy you all seek to use moving forward. Though ultimately, it is better than allowing someone to walk free and possibly kill another.
week 2, sunday
Your order has been received. You’ll get it tomorrow.
What do you wish to know about monsters?

...And wait, there were four during the trial? Not counting Iwatooshi? Does that mean there was still one that we didn't identify?
no subject
Yes.
We had said that a chimera and two individual monsters were summoned. That was for this week, not counting what happened the week prior.
no subject
Fuck. Uh. Okay. And they're still possessed by it??
no subject
Yes.

That said, I entirely agree with your sentiments.
[ what a weekend! ]

no subject
No. Again, the chimera picked one victim. The other possessed monster took on one victim. Another individual took on the last victim.
[ four culprits whoo ]

Though I do think that the swamp provides considerable incentives.

Nonetheless, don't you think your priorities should shift? There is still at least one more monster to find.

It is not a poor precaution to take. We aren't at liberty to speak of conversations we have with others, but you can reconvene with her in time.
