They've got a broader wealth of knowledge than I do. You can probably still work with them.
[ but in terms of providing enrichment, ]
I don't mind teaching you how to do things here though. [ hands-on stuff. ] It'll be important for someone to be able to tend injuries if anything happens to me.
Don't say that. [ those words are red flags, stop it, nobody needs to double-die in a place like this. ]
I saw how much stress Daan and Alfyn were under for being the only doctors we have. So even when you're here and fully capable, I can at least share the burden so you're not shouldering it all on your own.
[ his lil chaos yard... not so little anymore but it's fine. ]
I suppose. [ he doesn't really want to have to dump his extra work on a kid, but. ] We'll see. We'll start with field treatment, the rest is up to how much effort you put in from there.
[ ori i will remember that you didn't give me a memory and am going to cash out on this eventually, i may be an npc but I HAVE YOU IN MY SIGHTS!!!! ]
...I'm not sure. The problem was that we couldn't get our hands on the parts we needed. That hasn't changed, and risking the death of another overseer could be—problematic. If they have to replace all of us, the next group won't be as generous.
[ asdflkjh he's a side character in a feel good manga he has no deep lore!!! remind me next time i'll find something ]
What sort of parts were you missing? I really would've thought you would make sure you have everything you need before messing around and getting yourself blown up.
It was worth it to save one person. If we were really cautious, we might not have been able to help you, Pickles, and Ichiban either.
[ it was only a week apart. ]
...In any case, the machine completely exploded, and it was on that side. You'd have to rebuild it somehow here if you wanted to improve upon it at all.
If it's technology, I'll look in the hospital and the mall for things I can disassemble. Should I deliver the parts straight to your penthouse to sort through?
[ he will face his apartment trauma if that's what it takes ]
Hm. Maybe the basement... [ he actually doesn't care if they use his room for storage, but, ] I suspect the other Overseers will be better with technology, if it comes to that.
[ he gets it but still!! he was shot down this quickly when he'd suggested tpking everybody to bring them all over to the graveyard... this might still happen ]
One death is an unfortunate accident. More 'accidents' will draw more scrutiny. Besides, I was always likely to die anyway.
[ it's not THAT unbelievable that he'd just up and get killed. ]
...Like I've said, death does come with its advantages. But we aren't invincible here. People are dying fast enough right now that the cult is likely to notice—we don't need that sort of attention. Even if they may not replace one or two of us, it's an unnecessary risk when we can communicate with them anyway.
People dying this quickly is the cult's fault in the first place.
[ the cult and also lucas, but time is fake and idk he doesn't know about lucas yet ]
I don't think it'd be too much of a surprise to them if people got fed up with their situation and killed, for example, Pestilence in retaliation. It'd make sense, nothing suspicious about it.
...You don't see the pointlessness of killing someone who could be replaced with a cultist who actually wants all of you dead, when you can just call them for help?
It makes you sound like you want to see them again.

It's just safe to have contingencies.
[ he's a glued-together person so a back-up is a good idea. ]
...You don't need to worry about my burdens. They're not your responsibility.

You share your burdens, I share mine. That's just how normal human interactions work.

You had other questions, right?

Right. The machine that you guys were working on. Is it still a viable option?

It'd have been nice if we had that luxury. Though if we'd worked any slower and less recklessly, some of you would've just died permanently.
[ the fact that their machine blew up and caused whatever this place is on the same day that aventurine dies was just luck. ]
It was a calculated risk. In the end, one of us getting blown up seems a cost worth paying.
no subject
[ like. if aventurine had to perma-die but the machine hadn't exploded and eventually got fixed and saved everybody else? that might be worth it. ]
Anyways, no need to scrap the idea completely. Do you still have whatever remains of the machine? Let me play with it.

[ no. ]
Your train of thought is obvious. But also, if the Overseers die, they'll be replaced. I'm sure you can figure out why that would be a bad thing.

You haven't been replaced.

I know we resurrect here, but the process of dying is unkind all the same.
