No, when you put it that way, I don't think you're entirely wrong.

But the logic of this realm doesn't have to match what you're used to. Even approaching it from a chemical perspective—if the building block elements here are charged with, let's call it magic, then perhaps even water and dust will behave differently than you can imagine within the confines of your own world's reasoning.

I don't think you're wrong, but you might need to temper your expectations. Even if we've been here a little longer, it's not like we've figured out all the intricacies of this place. We didn't make it.

We're starting closer from scratch than you're assuming. When I'm not fielding questions about cursed bibles and leeches, much of my time is spent on research, if it's any condolence to you. And yes, it is unfair.

[It's honestly a very normal-looking inn from the one hallway he gets to observe before Will cheerfully and quickly ushers him out. It's surprisingly clean and functional and a hair more modern. No building tours today, alas!!
