[ yes walk is probably good because he's had his head in his anal book OR been on the camille death panel for the past 24 hours and is going wizard-insane (worse than regular insane) ]
She very much was clear she did not approve. [ VERY EMPHATIC DISAPPROVAL. ] Apart from that ... Camille is my friend. I don't wish to see her hurt, though I understand she is not in control of herself right now. And I don't want to give up on the idea of a cure, or something to help her condition. For all we know, she could be helped, and instead of helping, we cut her throat for the potentiality of a prize for myself. Her life for mine. A sickening trade.
But you're not actually doing it for the prize, right? It would be something to receive from it, but it is not your motivation. I don't think you see her as something to simply exchange.
A lot of things might be the death of you, Gale. I think you just need to make sure the path you take to that eventually death is one that you are satisfied with, in the end.
We are looking. Despite what people might think, I am really smart, you know. And so are the others, and we're trying to figure something out. But no matter what we do, we can't find anything that doesn't end in death.
I don't think that'll work... basically, the same magic that is granting you the wishes, was the same ones that gave you the monsters that are going wild in the first place. It wouldn't cancel each other out.
[ he guesses that makes sense, as disappointing as it is. it does remove the possibility of a conga line chain of having to do partnerships for when she inevitably dies and puts [redacted] in danger too. why am i redacting yall know who her partner match is. YOU GET THE POINT. ]
Does that mean that partnering puts you at greater risk to stir up this monster?
I wouldn't say so... Basically, the affliction itself isn't contagious or anything, so it doesn't jump from person to person. Like how it didn't pass from Iwatooshi to Mathis.
I suppose my other question is this: we know we can save the lives of those partnered to victims - or the prematurely killed - but what about the partner of someone who faces execution?
Could it be prearranged so the new partnership could take place at the exact moment of death, or is it simply a lost cause?
Basically, the partner is only safe until the ritual ends, which is with the death, and I think the chances of timing it to the exact second is not... high.
[ logistically impossible, really ]
I'm not saying you can't make an attempt, but I just want to be realistic about it.
It does make things a little... tricky. The other worry would be a situation like Lucas, where he was killed before any confirmation of even a transformation occurred. What if someone does that because they're confident someone did it, and then it turns out they didn't.
It's messy. But people acting on impulse and over grief is hard to predict.
I think you should just talk it over. I don't think she's very happy, and who knows how long it would take to even find a cure if there is one? So just keep those things in mind, okay?
It is a shame that resurrection magic does not work here.
That's-- You've heard about my Mindflayer Tadpole yes? [ HE DOESN'T REMEMBER. ] The classic cure for the illithid infected is to, erm. Smash the head so the brain with the tadpole infection is thoroughly destroyed, and then to raise the afflicted with the assistance of a True Resurrection spell. Dearly, dearly expensive and rare - I myself paid near 250 thousand gold for one before I set about my journey because of the explosive nature of the orb - but ...
Well, even if you're bringing them back after, you're still killing them. It's traumatic, no matter what.
[ the thing about murdergame is that even if you are ok after, you still died terribly ]
I think that... if it were me in her situation, I'm not sure if I could handle the isolation. Even if everyone tries to treat you normally, you know things aren't quite right. It'll kill me.

Maybe I should think that way. Inaction will be the death of me.

So, at least there is no worry in that regard.

We should really stop killing in the middle of trials based on emotion. It removes the possibility from us of figuring out how to save the most.

I understand the isolation is quite awful, however. I would like to rid her of that. Dispel the tension as it were.

[ NO.
Functioning at any rate. Besides, that's really only the "big" death. I've died before, with less permanent consequences.
