i guess on the way of leaving toward the south end of the map, famine and kanda cross paths. famine is not saying hello. pixi i still feel like this is going to end ]
[I say that but honestly this is how most of my PCs should be going
In this non-PC Kanda will just be meditating quietly away from everyone else; there is a number in the low thousands on his upper arm, showing through his coat. He does crack one eye open to stare at them suspiciously but you're right he won't talk either so goodbye]
[Kanda died from sadness because Famine ignored him
No just kidding. He's probably still in the same general area though because he doesn't want to talk to anyone... but he's not enough of a psychopath to threaten a random bird and (most) animals are better than people, so even though he's a little surprised by this, he holds out his hand for it to land on.
Except he doesn't know how to deal with crows so he just holds it out palm up like an idiot. His papercuts are probably mostly healed by now but the leech bites are also still there. Damn. Don't drink his blood crow-chan]
[Every time I look at this icon I think about Childe
But sure he can be meditating, or practicing with his sword... or maybe he has one of his weird glove things off and he's frowning at the not-instahealed injuries?? Does War want to look at his nasty arm stigmata]
[ rude floating book science division arrives for kanda to be like WHY. they at least make it obvious they have arrived. not by footsteps but by presence. ]
[That's good because he's definitely in "attack first talk later" mode. He's standing guard a little ways away from the Bootcage, but close enough that he'll be able to jump in and attack if need be.
He glances at them, then back at the barrier.
The answer is both yes and no, in a sense, so he decides to just explain straightforwardly.]
It prevents them from being turned into Akuma. [Which he will probably never believe can't get in here tbh. But besides that:] And I don't trust anything your cult might use them for.
[Unbeknownst to him, the words Alma Karma appear in ink on his back.]
[Well Famine it's because you also hate people that's why
He clenches his hand in a fist, visibly unhappy--but a different version of it than his day-to-day grouchiness.]
Who the hell else am I supposed to ask? None of us know anything about the magic you're using.
[Which means they don't have any chance of figuring out a workaround for anything, including these memory voids. Like this one!! The one sucking them into this memory. Good job speaking it into existence, Kanda.]
The penthouse, as one might expect of... a penthouse, is more spacious than the studios and built out with actual rooms. It's modestly furnished and nondescript to the point of emptiness: austere, wooden furniture and plain windows, impossibly fogged and streaked with water, even if the weather outside is clear; the sound of rain persists. Atop the desks are tidy lines of jars filled with looted supplies from the pharmacy, tools from the hospital, vials in a stand, and a stack of notes. It's neat, academic, and impersonal. There's also a polished, whittled statue of a wolf to the far side, and some keychains.
The 'decor' is otherwise limited to flowers. Drying from the ceiling, dying in vases, dropping petals that decay and vanish before they strike the ground. Two lotuses set in a china bowl, one starting to wrinkle and wither. His Death mask is hung up, but beside it is another fashioned firmly on one of the walls, as though grafted in, swollen onto the wood like a tick to skin. Basically these are the vibes, except less cozy and more surreal, gritty and strange as any of the other rooms. There's some couches and a TV too, for convenience.
anyway death is around, kanda can have wandered here or actually sought him out with questions w/e. he is at his desk, taking a break from working on something to massage his mostly-useless arm. ]
But yes Kanda is here on purpose. He doesn't want to talk to a hole and Famine got demoted anyway so here he is. He'll close the door and lean against it with his arms crossed, preferring to stand for now.
Straight to the point:]
I don't understand.
[He read the notebooks, but he's struggling to understand how he's able to be here when he watched his body get examined for hours.]
but scien has a huge cart of assorted electronics. wires, laptops, keyboards, screens, you name it. but he's got his eye on something bigger that doesn't quite fit into his cart - probably a giant computer tower that he'd have to rearrange his cart for to pick it up
when he sees kanda, he's just going to get his attention ]
[SCARESCO!!!! Sure yes he can be here probably getting another set of casual clothes or something.
Predictably, there's a spike of irritation at Scien's orders--and typically he'd just say "no" and walk away, but he's distracted by this GIANT CART OF TECH SHIT??? The way the Order has insanely advanced technology for no reason so he recognizes some of these things, but not all of them, and he's an idiot so his confusion is enough to distract him from his annoyance.]
