He's probably still in the same general area though because he doesn't want to talk to anyone... but he's not enough of a psychopath to threaten a random bird and (most) animals are better than people, so even though he's a little surprised by this, he holds out his hand for it to land on.
Except he doesn't know how to deal with crows so he just holds it out palm up like an idiot. His papercuts are probably mostly healed by now but the leech bites are also still there. Damn. Don't drink his blood crow-chan]
