[famine didn't ask. and i'm sorry for her continuing to stand here and talk about bullshit that really does not matter.]
We didn't really have luxury where I'm from, but that's all the more reason you try to enjoy what you have. Even if it's only meant to keep you alive. [mostly because if you're alive to eat it you can stand to be happy about it.]
[that's fair. she does not seem bothered by this.]
...is that why you're going by Famine. [since you have apparently experienced this. this has nothing to do with feeling bad for them (it does, but that's a whole other aerith-specific thing) and more trying to parse out a few pieces of their puzzle for being here and their masked beings.]
[okay so food scarcity is very much a hot-button issue with famine. she'll back down at least.]
It'll be enough. [but she wants spices just because people could stand the comfort.] ...one more thing. Speaking of keeping us alive. We're matched with someone here and a monster is a shared thing. If we found a match and were connected, does that tie only last while we're here? If we did stop the ritual and we were bound to somebody else, would that tie sever when we left?
[imagine dying in your own home world and somebody drops dead across the universe.]
[ can it still be hot button if their response is just exhaustion instead of anger
but they tilt their head ]
Unclear. Since it's just a side effect of the ritual that was used to summon you, I don't know how easily solved it would be. Though I do think that, by the time your powers unlock and you all get to go home, you'll probably be able to find a variety of solutions.
It's not a bad way to think. [for all of them.] If a ritual was used to bring us here and give us these powers, and a ritual's supposed to be used to sacrifice us, then there must be a ritual to send us all back. It's just finding how to perform it and making it work. [...as long as there's enough time, at least.]
I wouldn't anticipate that you will just immediately be given the tools to save yourselves from captivity, if that's what you're asking.
It's also a matter of figuring out how to get all the pieces together. What would the point be in freeing you all if you cannot return home? And as much as we're all interested in being of assistance, I also don't believe trading the lives of the other three for all of you would be worthwhile.
[ so better to collect as much information as possible first before acting hastily and having to take big risks ]
If I thought it would be that easy I don't think I would ask. [she's kind of used to things not being easy and not being given the tools right away. sometimes things are just complicated.]
I don't know if many of us would consider trading your lives for ours anyway, so it would make sense that you'd feel the same. [she says many because she is aware some people here are slightly feral.] ...it's still too early to really know where to look, isn't it?
[words are words, sure, but aerith usually gives people the benefit of the doubt even when perhaps she should not.]
You haven't given me a reason not to think that's true yet. So words will be enough for now. [...] We'll try to work things out ourselves, too, to lighten the load when we can. It's just a little harder while we're in one place.
[so. her strategy is keep morale boosted enough to try and get people to put in the work to focus and get the hell out. murder will not necessarily change this but it will not help. it's fine.]
Guess I've taken up enough of your time today, haven't I?
No one expects sacrifices to be able to save themselves. At the same time, it is obvious that you all want to do everything you can to protect your own lives.
[ they live in that awkward, difficult dichotomy. a very odd emotional state to have to be in, forced into trust and helplessness.
famine shrugs ]
If you feel all your questions have been answered, that is all I care to accomplish.
[i see famine gets to experience Something for the next several weeks.]
For now I think so. But I'm sure I'll have more the longer this goes on. [she's going to be back to badger famine another time but i will set you free...]

To be able to bask in what you eat is a luxury. Sustenance is enough to keep someone alive.

I don't care about your opinion.
But if you think people can be assed to care about spices and taste, then you haven't experienced true famine.

[ shakes head ]
You all can spice up your food as much as you like for all I care. But it is enough to keep you alive, and it comes whenever you please.
[ and that's something ]

For now. It's not that we aren't making attempts at every spare moment that we have, or that we aren't all doing our part working into the evenings.
But words are but words.
