[she's watching him curiously, mostly because she's always curious about how nehan sees the world and what he thinks. is she also a little worried and making sure he isn't hurting himself by doing that? yeah, maybe.
to that though, she shrugs a little.]
It's...part of my powers, I think. [it's not "i think", she's well aware it has to do with her connection to the planet.] Because of who I am, the planet and I are connected in a way that she can draw power from me, and I can draw it from her. I never really understood it until recently though, and even now I'm not sure how much I can really do. I'm still learning. But even with that, keeping them alive takes time. I used to check on them every day before we left Midgar.
Oh, because it sort of is. [yeah.] Under the planet's surface is the lifestream, and the lifestream is...think of it as a collection of knowledge, emotions and memories of everyone who's ever lived on the planet. Those who come from the planet return to it. [...] Spiritual energy, basically.
[pruning plants is tedious work, so she lets him do that while checking what kind of herbs he's even got going here.]
I do though, yeah. It's rewarding to see the new life grow down there when everything is so...not really conducive for something like that. Flowers only grow in the church, but I transferred a lot to my house, too. They've survived out there. [and in a way it's nice to see the effort manifest into something beautiful.] Besides, being able to create new life is the only way to keep the planet from dying out, isn't it?
...I see. I suppose there's something comforting to that. That everyone all eventually returns to the same place.
[ his feelings on that are melancholic, but his hands don't stop at their task, nipping off the tops of overly tall shoots. they're a sort of dark purple herb, and unrecognizable. plant from his world. ]
I never really thought of it as bringing life to anything. But sure. There's something to watching something grow from such an inhospitable atmosphere. ...Life can be resilient that way. People too.
Depends on if you believe it or not. A lot of people do, but just as many don't. [even yuffie used to think it was a bunch of crap until, like, recently. it's a little hypnotizing to watch him work, but maybe it's just because it's so mundane and normal compared to the absolute insanity of the day.]
I think the resilience of anything can say a lot about something or someone. Some people might even call it inspiring. [but she hums a little to that.] What do you do it for then?
[honestly she'd believe he only raises plants for the herbs for medicine and she'd be like "yeah, acceptable, no notes."]
[ whether or not it's true, it's nice. anyway yeah just the rote motions of managing a little garden are relaxing, versus plotting to take down a fucking god. he ponders the question a bit. ]
...I'm not sure there's a reason. I've done this since I was young. [ because yeah, medicine. ] But also, in my world, I'm the last person who knows how to cultivate herbs unique to my village. The other survivor from my clan is a brute.
[ muelsyse could take care of his plants because she's a genius, but otherwise it's just him. he pinches off an offshoot of the herbs, twirling it between his fingers. ] I guess I just have trouble letting it go.
[well. she remembers the memory she got from him, and how he'd told her once he left the other guy alive when he did confront him, so she's not particularly surprised by this knowledge.
instead, she's watching him and contemplating what he says because it feels familiar, a little.]
...then the question, I think, is why would you want to let something like that go at all?
no subject

Your planet does seem very... How should I put this. Like an entity of its own.
[ rather than a floating rock. he prunes a couple plants while he speaks idly. ]
Do you enjoy gardening? [ keeping these struggling little buds alive? ]
