I guess the main downside to losing it is that some of the abilities it gives you are pretty useful, but there's not much to do about that.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. There's a lot of things I could've done if I still had the ability that came with my monster. But we'll just have to work around that, I think. Whatever that might look like.
