It's fine. I come from a race of people that's... well, I guess you can say endangered, in plainest terms. There's not really a lot of us left.

Well, where I'm from, there's this pretty bad disease that's easily contagious. Fatal, if you don't take treatment or care.

But it affects us a lot worse than others.

I see. But there... is a treatment for it?

There is, but the treatment isn't good for my people. If we catch it, we can be dead in just a few weeks.

It doesn't count as a treatment if it's bad for you.

Aha, yeah, so I just avoid it all! Most of my kind tend to hide themselves away in secluded areas. Deep in forests and caves.

So you're kind of safe from catching the disease as long as no one comes to those places with it?

Yeah, for them. I don't live there, since I can't really do what I want if I did. I want to find an actual, real way to help ourselves, so I need to be where the resources for that kind of thing is.

Oh. What's it like where you were before coming here?

Hmm, well I lived in a pretty big city, but I usually stuck inside my lab when I wasn't doing expeditions for my research. Since I study plants I gotta go to where the plants are, and all.

It's... very busy, and the atmosphere isn't always great. Lots of fighting and wars lately.

So there are like... labs and cities... and also people who live in caves?

Well, it's a pretty diverse place! Lots of different countries with their own cultures, which you're probably also used to?

I guess so... Too bad there's so much fighting. That probably makes it hard to focus.

Mm. Well, it's amazing how quickly you get used to things.

Not much choice but to adapt in most cases.

That probably wouldn't feel like adapting at all. We just wouldn't notice.

I guess it depends on what sort of thing it is? It could still be a drastic change, but fun.

Well... I won't say it's bad when things get better. But once you know how things work, it's annoying for it to get switched up.
