Yeeeeah, that's what I was thinking... [ sighs ] If this tooth theme theory ends up being right, I swear.

Do you guys have an idea of how you might want to handle this?
drymonster: (well that wasn't very good)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-22 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I think we were talking about doing something similar to with Kate-chan, how they locked her up and barricaded her in overnight, but... obviously not letting them out of our sight on Friday until you can get them in a barrier or something this time. And then I guess... maybe killing them during the trial again?

[ though kate had felt like a special situation since they all lived together and she was kind of their responsibility; it would feel weird taking it upon themselves to kill off someone else. ]

Though... I also don't think it really matters at this point if whoever we vote for has a partner or not, unless we somehow end up with like, five murders this week, right? Since almost everyone's going to have to die next week anyway.

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-23 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hm... I think the other thing is whether or not any of the five left should be afflicted or not.
drymonster: (replicating what?)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-23 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, they shouldn't be, right?
rhine: (pic#17188751)

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-23 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Preferably not! So, it does mean you'll have to figure that out somehow... before then.

But it would likely be harder to accomplish a trap this time, at least. Especially since now everyone is aware you tried it the first time.
drymonster: (shut up walltar)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-23 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, yeah... I think so too. I think Laudna already talked to her, which...

[ sighs. ]

I understand wanting to try to help first and giving them some say in it. It pissed me off that that group that killed Camille didn't try that. But I think things have changed since then, too. We've seen now how people get worse as the weeks go on, so after this long, it's probably going to get pretty ugly. And since so many people are going to need to die in another week anyway, and since the ones who are afflicted shouldn't be the ones left at the end...

It would really make more sense to just do it as soon as possible without trying to delay things, wouldn't it?
rhine: (pic#17188914)

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-23 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Logically, yes. Especially since it's difficult to predict how things will go.

... the monster will likely be more on guard. The problem is that they are as aware of what's happening as the person is. Especially if it's coming from someone who is already known to have planned something like this prior.
drymonster: (this was no ordinary ceiling tile)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-23 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

[ ... ]

I don't think I'd be able to do it, though. I mean— emotionally I could, just. I don't think I could physically pull it off on my own against a monster.

[ this is probably backwards from how most people here would look at it. ]
rhine: (pic#17190446)

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-23 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[ it is. but she is from a combat mobage so she does not think this line of thinking is actually weird. ]

... they only really get the power up when they actually feel threatened or like they might lose, so you never know. It's just about smart planning.
drymonster: (and i'm like "what's up with that?")

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-23 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
...I guess I can just keep a weapon on me and go for it if I find an opportunity sometime before Thursday night when they wouldn't be on guard yet.

[ which he won't, but that's fine. ]
rhine: (pic#17188753)

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-24 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
... I know this isn't a particularly easy choice to make.

[ even if it doesn't happen ]
drymonster: (it had everything)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-24 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, there haven't been a lot of choices here that have been.

[ except for the catstarion headcanon decision that was the clear choice ]
rhine: (pic#17188751)

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-24 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true.

But that doesn't make it any better when you have to keep doing it.
drymonster: (man... you're wrong about that)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-24 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
...Yeah, it's kind of exhausting. I'm used to being the callous, selfish one, but I'm not used to stakes like this. Back home nothing really matters much.
rhine: (pic#17261278)

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-25 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
... I know that, in general, people like to play off how they feel as not too big of a deal. We're all suffering. What happened one week might not be objectively worse than what happened last week, so it's okay. You didn't die, so something isn't a big deal in comparison.

And maybe, in the most objective of senses, that's true. But that logic doesn't work for people in the grand scheme of things. It's not like everything we've gone through resets along with the week, the stress and the trauma builds up more and more.
drymonster: (you won't make it in television)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-25 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... ]

See, where I'm from, it does kind of reset every week? I mean, not completely, we still remember stuff, and sometimes there are callbacks, but... once you move on to the next thing, you're back to normal if you got hurt or died, and you don't usually think too hard about what happened the last time, even if it was really fucked up.

But. Yeah. It's not like that here.
rhine: (pic#17190138)

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-26 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm... it must have been a really major leap to adapt to here, then.

[ from not taking things seriously to being forced to, all the time. a little similar to people who lived rather normal lives before being brought here. ]
drymonster: (well that wasn't very good)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-26 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ nods ]

It's... been a challenge.

...Though at the same time, I guess a lot of what's happened here probably hasn't hit me as hard as it has other people.
rhine: (pic#17125793)

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-26 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. Everyone processes things differently.

[ she points at herself. ]

Admittedly, I'm rather used to more cutthroat environments, so everyone being so nice is actually what surprised me more than anything else.
drymonster: (better get some water)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-26 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, really? You said you did research for a company, right? Is it just that intense of a work environment?
rhine: (pic#17188752)

[personal profile] rhine 2024-07-26 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... the company I work for is pretty powerful, and one of the leaders in the industry. It has reach in the government and military, even. Lots of very powerful people want pieces.

[ she points to herself. ]

I'm one of the higher-ups. A co-founder, and one of the head directors. So, there's plenty of people who want to try to get close to me because of my position, or just want me out of the way entirely.
drymonster: (i guess i'll go from memory)

[personal profile] drymonster 2024-07-26 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, wow, okay. I guess that makes sense, then. Being around this group really would be a dramatic change from that.

[ he kind of feels that to a much lesser extent, because everyone in his canon is at least a little bit shitty. being around people like rondo and alfyn has been wild. ]

...Man, it was already impressive that you were doing research stuff like that when you were still in your teens, but if you helped found the whole thing at that age, that's really something.
