Their propaganda paint us - the drow, the goblins, and the duergar - as savages and terrible monsters.

The Underdark is a place that tests whether you have the mettle you think you do. It can be beautiful, but it can be deadly. It is not a hell, full of annoying demons, but a place which has shaped the creatures living with its darkness.
These creature don't just wander out of the Underdark to cause havoc and chaos like the Empire claim.

Well, we do not, but the Underdark runs all below our city and the territory of Xhorhas. And I'm not sure whether or not to worry about your world being mine.
I suppose I have never heard of Baldur's Gate, but Exandria is very big.
