What do you want to know? You know what a chimera is, don't you? The parallel is similar. Ignore what the wizard of Waterdeep says. It isn't that nuanced. A creature made up of multiple monsters which must work in tandem.
ok he does have a full giggle at the straight up ‘don’t listen to gale. don’t do it.’ ]
Yes, I’m aware what a chimera is. One beastie made of many, correct? [ … ] So, is it literally a singular creature, or just a blanket term for multiple possessed that are compelled to work together one way or another?
[ giving astarion another Look at the giggling. look. wizard slap fight is all. ]
They are summoning an actual monster on their side - the cult. A chimera is summoned, but the chimera happens to be two monsters assimilated which those here may have a connection with. You all have seen evidence of the chimera's work actually, though I think only a few of you realize.
Anyway, it is not an unreasonable assumption to consider a chimera pair may work together. It is up to you all to find evidence of this occurring when you do your investigations.
[ anna your icon. please have a wizard slap fight where astarion can enjoy the show. ]
So, they summon a chimera made up of a changeling and a -- [ uhhhhh. ] dragon. It would be potentially myself and the remaining dragon who would be compelled into acting because of our association with those monsters?
[ oh. hm. ] It wasn't the state of Ichiban's chest, was it? That was decidedly messy.
I think that part's fairly simple. If you tell us there's one chimera, and two possessions and there are four bodies they we can assume they worked separately. [ ... ] Is it always two? Or potentially more than two monsters making up the chimera?
[ he shakes his head, finds out it's a bad idea, and stops with pinches brows. BUT CARRIES ON. ]
No. It was something else which implied two people were together. [ ... ] Chimeras will always be at least two; otherwise, they wouldn't be chimeras. I cannot say if there would be a three-person chimera or not. We haven't seen it happen yet.
[ he is such a lightweight. astarion like... sinks down where he's sat a bit, frowning. ]
So... always at least two people, influenced by whatever the cultists have summoned, working together to kill someone. In their right mind? Or are they more like the possessed?
I think you all are over-complicating it because you are getting confused about number of the victims. I hope you don't all think that just because someone isn't possessed, they can't have the urge to kill.
[ looks at him over the glasses he doesn’t have and isn’t wearing. ]
I am fully aware of the general population’s ability to kill on a whim. However, when we ask you about the killers you usually tell us chimera and possessed. It does make sense we’d assume it’s cult and monster related if you tell us this.
[ hm. ]
Have a couple of would-be killers had their lives taken from them, then?
[ don't look at him over the metaphorical glasses. ]
Yes, we do. This explanation is not about the most recent one, though it still applies that I believe you all over-think the number of victims sometimes. You once all had believed you found every killer except one, but that was not true.
Going forward, you should just remember a person does not have to be afflicted to kill, and chimeras are two together like their namesake.
[ continues looking at him over his metaphorical glasses. ]
I imagine it’s easier to say this when you know who all the killers are at the start of those rather frantic nine hours. [ he’s certainly not naive enough to assume no one leapt for the incentives at the first go. i hope it was (throws dart) izutsumi. ]
Well, as long as we have a vote at the end. We’ll be truly fucked if it turns out there’s five possessed people running around and we vote off someone uninvolved.

The changing dimensional portal does lead us to dangerous places.
[ he hiccups gently and looks both surprised and embarrassed by the unexpectedness of it. ]
Um. ...Excuse me.

[ ah.
don't laugh. don't laugh.
he kinda snortgiggles. it's not technically a laugh. ]

[ giving him a LOOK. stop giggling. ]
I think I've drank enough...

[ just watches him for a long moment.
slides his own glass over to station. there. ]
Are you sure you are able to drink this and be all right after not having it in so long...?
no subject
Mmm. I've been enjoying a drink or too since I got here. And there's such a thing as blood-drunk, which manifests in a similar way.
[ sometimes you drink a lot of blood and you get the same effect. ]
Oh. Right, I had a second question. [ yaY. ]

he is giving the sins over, yeah. he is a lightweight. he has to cover his mouth to politely suppress another hiccup. this is not what he wanted. ]
Oh? Well, go ahead.

Explain the chimera thing to me like I’m mildly drunk on alcoholic grape juice in a dusty little refectory cellar.
[ oddly specific. but my and astarion’s brains are smooth. ]

Possessed, but with some extra “rules” that a possessed not influenced by the cult wouldn’t have. [ the working together part. he nods. ]
