[DAAN!!! DAAN YOUR FUCKING SHOWER!!!! DAAN LOOK WHAT YOU DID.
He probably should've expected this, and yet. AND YET. He's too slow to throw out an arm to block her from getting dragged over--which is frustrating, and his anger shows on his face, but this isn't the first time they've been in a situation like this; it's not dissimilar to the way the Noah had tried to capture her in Edo, though Kanda had had the advantage of surprise back then. And. Y'know. His Innocence.
So, naturally, the first thing he's going to do is try and summon his Spirit Sword! If he succeeds, he'll hold it at the ready, prepared to strike but not quite reckless enough to start swinging while they've got Lenalee.]
[ hell yea he gets his spirit sword. enjoy your kuwabara moment, kanda. the gun-wielding demon sneers, laughing. ]
That's half the point, ponytail. You really think that you can take us both out before my finger slips?
[ there's the sword of ruckus behind them. there's more people inside, though the large demons obstruct them from view. lenalee starts to worry, frowning even though she wants to kick both of these demons in the face so bad. ]
What do you even want from us?
Invited Guest has to follow through. Or his hostage gets it—though you can also serve the role if you want.
[ the demon will pull out a small, shitty video communicator from his pocket. it's like real iPod quality. not even in color. but in the screen, the two of them can see an image of Lavi... in The Chair.... ok maybe not the exact chair but he's bound in a chair somewhere ]
As they fight, one takes Gozu hostage and threatens to kill him. Kanda dismissively tells the akuma to do what it wants, shocking them both. Terrified, the akuma releases Gozu and flees.
act like such a bitch that even the monsters are scared of you
And honestly it's tempting to do that now? It is sooooo fucking tempting to act heartless enough to catch these fucks off-guard so that Lenalee can get away, and they can fight their way out of this.
...But. Well. For one thing, they're threatening Lenalee too, and it's far too late to shut down and pretend he doesn't recognize her. For another, character development... and on top of that, Kanda isn't the greatest liar? After weeks of being stuck together, unwilling to trust anyone but each other--after last weekend, especially, it's impossible to stop his expression from darkening at the sight of Chavi. (Chair Lavi.) So while the words "do what you want with him who cares about some guy" are on the tip of his tongue, even Kanda knows he probably couldn't pull it off quite as well as he did back in the village, which a Finder whose name he didn't even know.
He still has to take a second to find the patience though.
[ kanda is trying so hard to find it. meanwhile lenalee is horrified at the idea, immediately trying to wrestle herself free. ]
Why him too—no, no, let him go!
[ because that's another piece of her world, isn't it? another dear friend, another person who she'd fall apart without. but the demon holding the gun just presses the barrel more firmly against the center of her forehead, quieting her down. he grins and laughs, having a grand old time. ]
Well, why don't we just keep both of you?
[ lenalee is || this close to trembling with anger, but she grits her teeth and tries to think of a way through this. she looks to kanda and finds her determination. it's just one match. they can't keep her locked up for the entire tournament. she'd find her way out by then. she tries to meet his eyes. ]
... win the match. I'll be okay.
[ and with her back to the demons, she mouths 'I'll find a way.' she won't be dead weight. ]
[Well that's infuriating, and it very nearly tips the scales in the wrong direction, his hand twitching and his body shifting to strike against his better judgment--but Lenalee catches his eye, and... well, he would've trusted her anyway, because she's one of the strongest and smartest people he knows, but with his brain soupified and his Innocence out of reach, it's easier for her to convince him to stand down than it otherwise would've been.
He still grits his teeth, though, and looks at these demons with an icy expression before he de-summons the sword. I really should've made this take like 5 more tag rounds and then had him try to fight anyway but listen. It's fine. I have to put him in his 90s clothes and he won't do it if he gets Lenalee killed here tch
To the demons:]
Next time I see you, you're both dead.
[And he'll WASH THE FLOOR WITH YOUR DANK STINKY DEMON BLOOD I wish he was edgy enough to say that but he somehow isn't]
[ kanda your 90s clothes. but the demons just laugh at that because every demon (except kurama and hiei) is such a fucking asshole!! lenalee frowns in response to their cruelty, but winces when the talons of the bird-looking one sink further into her arm. ]
Then come along, Miss Hostage. You can get to watch your human friend here get split into pieces from a ringside seat.
[ the two of them will cart her off then, leaving kanda to figure out where the hell he's going. (to the arena, hopefully. aventurine and daan are hanging out. where's cloud you might ask. don't worry about it) ]
[Ohhhhh the urge to kill them as they walk away is so strong OH IT'S SO STRONG OH GOD imagine if he'd gotten the bloodlust sword we'd be in shambles right now
BUT HE HAS AN ARENA TO GET TO well first I'm going to handwave that he somehow got forcibly wrangled into his fit on pain of Lenalee death or something whatever don't ask questions]
