[okay i think what happens here is that he's impossible to banish because of reasons, but she does cast the spell. it flies at him, and he just bats it away with his hand.
the spell bounces off him and hits the pillar behind him - and the pillar vanishes.
a beat. he turns and looks at the pillar like. fuck. oops.
and then turns around and unleashes hellfire. bright, horrible blue flames blast over the arena, coating the ground. ash is protected by a magic armor, so that means she only takes half of the 72 points i rolled, so let's say she didn't get burned to ashes (lol) but is significantly burned.
also, he only has three pillars. that seems important.]

ashlyn doesn't understand game mechanics so him being tethered to these pillars had made her go "well i bet those are helping him somehow but if we just hurry and kill him that's faster." but now she's less sure. him looking miffed about losing one is illuminating.
since that went so well, she'll use her other spell scroll to cast ice storm on another pillar. if one of them looks weakened already, she's aiming for that one! ]
[ayyyyy yeah! she casts ice storm! it shatters down violently at the pillar that mathis shot at, cracking into the marble, and it crumbles down into dust. also, the ice manages to dispel some of the hellfire.
raphael is being stunned by a hammer, but he visibly shrinks a bit when the pillar breaks. there's shrinkage, jerry...
that's two pillars down. she also feels something in her chest, this round. a pounding, almost hungry feeling that's fighting the metal chug of... something. hm.]
[ well. that was the extent of her ranged attack capabilities. and what's she gonna do, bodyslam a pillar? she weighs fucking nothing she's tiny. now what? how can she help the others?
... she decides to join lavi in fighting raphael in close combat?! again primarily out of a lack of any other ideas. at least it's something. at least it might distract him from casting more spells, might make it harder for him to hit either of them.
ashlyn just charges at him with her knife, trying to flank him, then rely on agility. she's here to slice and stab and dodge! emphasis on dodging. she's trying to be an inconvenience more than to get good hits in. ]
anyway, she comes up on raphael, and slices and dices - it's mostly just nicks and jabs, but it's very good distraction, especially as he attempts to eat rondo's soul. he actually makes this super hissy annoyed sound like a big baby when she gets at him, and finally whirls on her.
time to diabolic chain you! he shoots chains made of flame at her - the chains slam into her and imprison her, leaving horrible burns in the shape of chainlink iron around her arms and sides, wrapping her up like a maiden on train tracks. she gets tossed aside a few feet. this hurts like a motherfucker, they're made of fire.]
ash does probably like 1 damage to pillar with her sad injured body. and then just lies on the floor for a second because this is so many painful things back to back. it's so loud. everything hurts. everything is on fire and her chest is going to explode.
but if you stop you die. so she grabs the knife and gets out of lavi's way, heading back in to try and harass raphael some more. stab stab fucker. ]
[the combination of ash hitting the pillar and mathis shooting ice means that it does in fact crumble! so that's three down!
she moves forward to do more stabby at raphael, and he's starting to get tired. there are four of you, and one of him, and his power source is starting to wane. he takes another couple of jabs, and finally - he tries to turn her on everybody else.
