[ hm, well, i rolled a 2 with the intention of dodging, so... her reflexes completely fail her and she gets fucking stabbed in the stomach immediately. she doesn't play enough video games to know about this kind of boss fight!
she chokes on her own pained scream because even her own voice can be too loud, but still reflexively makes a counter attack, slicing as fully across her mirror image's body as she can. i got a 17 for that??? HELP???? ]
the copy doesn't bother being nice about this; she rips the dagger out, leaving a bloody wound behind. unfortunately for the copy, though - she's about as prepared to be hit as ash was. the knife slices across the copy's face, leaving a gash from forehead to jaw, and her copy opens her mouth to scream --
only for ash to see that it's a gurgled, horrible noise, because her copy has no tongue.
her copy stumbles backwards a few steps, putting her hand up to her face, holding her knife in a shaking hand.]
[ thank god for her not having a tongue, honestly.
no time to hesitate. the motions of killing something humanoid are as good as reflex; defending yourself means doing whatever you have to do. with one hand held over her wound in a weak attempt to put pressure on it, she moves in on her copy. she's ready to do a very badass stab.
but i rolled a 5 so she doesn't. it's a shitty one. ]
she doesn't do great. the copy can't see so well, though, and they're about the same level of skill. in fact, they're exactly the same level of skill.
you defend yourself however you can. which is why when the dagger comes at her, the mirror image instinctively tries to block ash's hand from coming down, taking the knife through the palm. another little strangled sound, and then she's kicking, bringing her foot up to slam into ash's side in an almost roundhouse type fashion.
if she can get ash to the ground, she's going to, trying to knock her down.]
[ she's already got this pretty bad stomach wound so a kick to the side takes her down right away. she's knocked to the ground!
she lands hard on one side, but scrambles upright, still trying to hold the knife in front of her. and then she is... holding action, mentally preparing to dodge to one side if the shadow tries to stab down on her?!
she absolutely can hold her action to try and dodge, because the shadow is going to do this. her shadow brings the knife up the way final girls do in horror movies, holding it with both hands tightly around the handle, and brings it down to try and jab it down into her chest, her throat, whatever she can reach. it's adrenaline, clumsy - they know self defense, don't they? they know just enough to keep themselves safe.]
[ finally, a roll that's mediocre instead of abysmal!!!!
ashlyn rolls to the side to dodge, then surges up as fast as she can to bodyslam all her weight into her copy. her hope is to get the knife out of its hands, so if she catches it off guard at all she's immediately letting go of her stomach and grabbing for the knife, while desperately stabbing down at the arm with her own weapon. stop! having! a knife! you're better at using it than her!!!! ]
the copy is not, for whatever reason, expecting ash to throw herself up into it. so it's definitely off guard, and that means that it gets reverse uno'd. it looks terrified from where it's out on the ground, hair coming undone, bleeding horribly from the face, knife skittering off away from it. instinctively, it tries to go for the knife, but ash catches it between the ribs as it twists, and it wails, unable to help itself.
and then flinches horribly, because it's loud, and it hurts. weakly, it rakes its fingers out, trying to catch ash across the face, get off, get off, it is desperate.
and fading. that looks like a pretty fatal wound there.]
[ the wail hurts both of them, but she powers through it as best she can.
it's unarmed. there's just the slightest moment of hesitation from ashlyn. there was no time to think when it had the upper hand, but for just a second, a half second, it's weak and in pain and it's a monster that looks like her. is this what she's going to become? is she already? if something hurts you, shouldn't you hurt it back? is that wrong?
its nails scratch across her face and she just lets them as my terrible rolls return. then she does the same dumb ass move the copy had just done, raising the knife high above her head. ]
Die—
[ its wounds already look pretty fatal, but she stabs down into its stomach again, just to be sure. she twists the knife. ]
[it looks just like her. maybe it is her. maybe it was, at one point. maybe she's the clone - she has no way of knowing.
she brings the knife up, and carries it down, and it slices easily. the skin gives as she twists the knife, and the shadow chokes, coughing up blood. some of it splatters across ash's face. she can feel the knife, the jagged rips in all the places she'd hit the clone, just for a second before it fades.
they look each other in the eye. and then the light in the copy's eyes go out. dulled over, pale.
[she can go look at the chains - you know it's very funny that in all these rooms she just has been horribly injured but not reset so it's just this long string of get fucked, ashlyn.
anyway. up on the wall is... hope! unconscious, hanging by the wrists from those red chains. you, however, cannot do anything to get her down. the chains are unbreakable with the items you currently possess.
but! here's the thing, you now have free range of this room. you won. so if nobody else wins theirs and gets to the chains, you can bring the Item here and do it.]
she's kind of afraid to move much like this. kind of afraid that if she leaves this room it'll just be some new nightmare scenario that tries to kill her while she's alone and weak as fuck.
... so she'll just. sit here for a tag round. see if anyone else finishes their fight and comes to find her first. ]
