[ how formal! iwatooshi stands just a little taller. ]
I would like to request for weapon maintenance kits - one for myself, and one for Rondo-dono, if possible. I don't want my blade to dull because I wasn't diligent here.
[ with that out of the way, he'll now offer a formal bow to them both. ]
[ not the bowing... they steeple the tips of their fingers together in front of themselves. ]
I am only able to place an order for you; however, I believe you will be able to share if you would like. There is about a week turn-around. You will receive it at the start of next week.
[ they can meet at the penthouse since that's my generic go-to, c+ps this
The penthouse, as one might expect of... a penthouse, is more spacious than the studios and built out with actual rooms. It's modestly furnished and nondescript to the point of emptiness: austere, wooden furniture and plain windows, impossibly fogged and streaked with water, even if the weather outside is clear; the sound of rain persists. Atop the desks are tidy lines of jars filled with looted supplies from the pharmacy, tools from the hospital, vials in a stand, and a stack of notes. It's neat, academic, and impersonal. There's also a small, whittled statue of a wolf to the far side.
The 'decor' is otherwise limited to flowers. Drying from the ceiling, dying in vases, dropping petals that decay and vanish before they strike the ground. Two lotuses set in a china bowl, one starting to wrinkle and wither. His Death mask is hung up, but beside it is another fashioned firmly on one of the walls, as though grafted in, swollen onto the wood like a tick to skin. Basically these are the vibes, except less cozy and more surreal, gritty and strange as any of the other rooms. There's some couches and a TV too, for convenience.
there's also a little fireplace, which is where death is at presently. he'll gesture for iwa to sit and get comfy. ]
[ he is vaguely fascinated by the penthouse's design, and his eyes linger on that second mask for a moment, but he's not here to admire the architecture, so. straight to work. he'll set his naginata carefully against a wall and come sit. ]
First... about Mathis-dono. You've all told us that if our partner died, so would we, but he's still alive. What happened? Was our bond broken, somehow?
[ the apartments are interesting when they're not trying to kill you. but that only happened once, so it's probably fine. ]
...That's right. Your lives are tied together. I didn't know how long someone could survive without their partner—but it seems death is not always immediate. Though I suspect the end of Sunday's ritual is the longest they could last.
[ he looks thoughtful. ]
If I had to guess, based on what happened... he probably forged a new partnership. Perhaps with someone else who had already lost their partner. Otherwise, I don't know how he would have survived at all.
[ iwatooshi looks away, both relieved and a bit sad to hear it... he was so glad to be there for mathis, but now their connection is gone, just like that.
...he shakes his head. ]
I don't know if I understand, but... it's good that he's alive. He didn't deserve to die because of me.
I doubt you'd curse yourself, Essek-dono, so I don't blame you. [ ... ] But I did kiss you, and I should have at least stopped to ask if you would accept it. I'm sorry for that.
week 1, weds
the spider is gone, but an owl is with them...? it's perched on their shoulder. ]
You were perhaps the last person I expected to make a request.
no subject
Gahaha! You think so? Well, there aren't many things that I want.
Another friend...? [ the owl gets a wave! ] You must be very good with animals, War-dono. What's this one named? Victory-dono?
no subject
[ monk behavior. ]
Yes, you may call him Victory.
[ the way they just keep picking up names from everyone else. the owl's head swivels around over its shoulder to look at iwa. ]

No. They're assholes to everyone. If we had a better method of communication, I'd let the cat eat them.

Essek-dono. I wanted to apologize for yesterday.

I feel as if I should be apologizing to you really.

...It's alright. I don't think any of the three of us were in our right minds. You don't have to apologize, but it is appreciated regardless.
