Well, we've explained a few times that a lot of the stuff happening here isn't the point. You're all really caught in how things like partners and monster affinities tie into the end goal of the cult, and we keep explaining it's a byproduct, but people weren't getting that.
Anyway, the simplest example is that it's like following a recipe you found, but not all of the ingredients to is is available, so you use alternative ones that still makes the meal, but it's slightly different enough that it's not the exact same.
