[Both brows go slightly up with the bit of surprise. She super threw that back, wow. (says the lightweight)]

Well, the cult summoned all of you here because they needed a good, big batch. Preferably the whole batch, but here you are, dying off. If six is at least what they need, then clearly any less wouldn't be good for them. Correct?

[i'd tell you to get on her level but this is a bad level]

Right. Okay, that's what I thought.

[The mood is bad. Very bad.]

Okay, well. I'd heard already that there may be a veil in the works when the time comes, and I'm guessing everyone else ran to ask you the same thing. I'll reconvene with the gang ASAP and try to curb my existential dread in the meantime.

But my next question was about all the organs people come back with. The heart, the spine, the tongue. More ingredients for the soup? Or are they building blocks for the body of the god they're summoning?

In which case, should we get rid of them?

Many did, but it's understandable.

[Not the straight-laced dude and the mess girl.]

I can't say since I do not know; however, they sound like components used to spellwork to me personally. I do not dabble in organic components, though. Materials I use are... gemstones, salt, sand, things of that nature.

And is that why everyone's asking you about the rocks?

[i see. He is a crystal girlie.]

Mmm. I'm guessing that means neither of your buddies know either? Or should I be asking them each in private? Like the monster rules.

Either way, they're a mystery I don't know how to solve. My other thought was maybe they're components we might need ourselves. Something to bring our friends back perhaps.

You don't know what it who is taking us on these cute little field trips, do you?

I can only assume they equate my knowledge of magic with what all is happening here in this place. So, yes, in a way.

[Damn, for once sucks to be the nerd and not the technology nerd.]

Like the tree in the swamp, the traversal to another plane is likely the instability of magic in this place. So far, that is the only explanation I have for it.

Do you really want all of them to come back? To, what? Be afflicted again? Used as a sacrifice to summon a god? I think that's a fairly foolish decision.

[Just looks at him. There's a flicker of ire. A quick jump to suppress it.]

Well. As the person who did get brought back just to land in the sacrificial pool again, I'd think anyone would schedule the resurrection attempts at such a time when we've fucked the cult over, for good.

It's cruel to bring anyone else back any sooner, knowing what we know. I'd crack that ouiji board in two if I could.

The cult outnumbers us all greatly. Ruining their plans will not keep them from enacting their vengeance on all who participated.

[If the ire bothered him, he does not show it.]

The fact they are... there... means a separate plane exists out of the reach of the cult. Why would it not be utilized? Your own resurrection was cruel, but that is a choice others made with a guilty conscience.

[She's silent a moment.

Then pours another shot. A longer one. It's gone just as quick as the first.]

So. What's the end game here, then? Put us all over on that side? Tuck us into some pseudo-afterlife where the boogeyman can't get us? That why the bodies disappear?

[Christ. She winces, rubbing her temples.]

...And where does that leave the three of you?

[LMAO. Mood....... He will allow her this without judgement.]

...We aren't certain yet. Like you, we are waiting to see what they find on that side, what Nehan advises. A lot is balancing on a thin thread, and we cannot be hasty.

[...]

Unless something happens to us, we will remain to continue the ruse.

[She regards him curiously. A thought has hit her now, stray. Uncharitable. Perhaps necessary.]

...If you can forgive me digging deeper on the conspiracy, was...was his death on purpose? For that purpose?

[Mixed emotions draw up.]

No. His death was not planned.

[She nods. There's regret. Understanding.

She'll put her hand to his shoulder if he'll let her.]

Sorry. And I'm doubly sorry we didn't figure it out.

[He will allow this, it's fine. His brows furrow very gently.]

It's fine. We at least know now they are somewhere and not gone for good.
