Mmhm. It wouldn't do anything to stop what's happening here-- so you can't wish to suddenly go home, for example, or for this ritual to end.

But you can wish for other stuff here, or to affect things back home.

How much could it affect things back home? And... even if I couldn't stop the ritual overall, could I wish to save someone from dying from a monster?

Basically, it's a one time thing. So, you could protect someone from death, but you could only do it the one instance.
