[ thinks about the pc where gojo asked rondo to stab it. thankfully he did not. ]
You can understand them, Pesti...? That's amazing. [ a beat. ] Do you think if I prayed here, it would be interrupted by that... odd scripture again, or no...?
...They probably haven't had anyone pray to them in a long time, huh.
[ that's sad...
after a long moment, he bows his head and closes his eyes, setting his hands in a standard position of prayer. there's a pause as he gathers his words, a brief flicker of sadness in the furrow of his brows - doing this makes him miss lucas. but... ]
... Dear nameless god of this place - we thank you for allowing us the chance to experience your domain and its bounties. Please watch over us as we are in your care, and we will do our best to look after you in exchange. [ a beat, and then with a little laugh - ] Though, we are not always very good at it as a collective, especially if that means leaving you alone...The people who are here have good hearts, and I know this to be true.
I hope your rest will be peaceful, and... I hope you will look upon us with mercy.
[ normally, this is where he'd end with the sacred flame version of an amen, but - it's not quite right, here. he peeks one eye open as he finishes to look at pesti. ]
[ they listen to the prayer, looking straight ahead at the tree. their expression is more somber than it normally is, and it takes them a moment to notice that rondo is looking at them.
there's a few seconds of silence, before they shift, lifting their hand up to carefully remove the mask. hi. ]
This is really exciting - I didn't even know you all could take those off. [ can he take her hands and squeeze them... the most sincere boy ever: ] It's so wonderful to get to see you face to face!
Thank you for trusting me with something like this...! You won't get in trouble, right?
Mmhm! There's this really bad disease where I'm from. There's no cure, and if you catch it, you'll likely end up dying to it eventually. Most people would have a few years before it kills them though, but I'd be a goner right away if I got it.
[ she points at herself. ]
For the first few weeks, any time I was out with you guys, that wasn't even really me. I was still paranoid that the disease was here, somehow, so I just stayed in our house and sent water clones instead. But I think I'm safe now, so.
[ I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO BE SOME WEIRD WHACK LORE ]
....Oh! The bubbles.
[ water clones... wild. magic is wild. anyway. more seriously: ]
That's...awful that that's a problem in your world, Miss Pesti... we've had our fair shares of plagues at home, and they are always a tragic event to say the least. I... we don't have many bright sides to this place, but, I guess that definitely counts as one.
Has it come and gone in waves? Or are you all only dealing with it for the first time, where you're from?
Edited (when you only have like 5 serious icons you repeat them constantly) 2024-07-03 18:18 (UTC)
No, it's a permanent fixture. It basically comes from a natural substance from our world. The only way to avoid it, really, is to settle in one of the few places without it and just... not leave there, or welcome anyone in. Even the air can be full of its particles.
Loads of people are, but no one has figured it out. I think it's partly because there is a lot about the origin source that we for some reason can't quite get...
[ she frowns, then shakes her head. more chipper, ]
Mm. [ rondo folds his hands behind himself, looking up at the tree. ]
... With the way things are here, I feel like we have to hold onto every silver lining we can find.
[ no matter how big, or how small. he drifts off for a moment, in thought - and then shakes his head and laughs a little, turning a smile to pesti. ] Can you show me some more cool things in the forest? I want to go around with an expert.
You'd probably love Orsterra, Miss Pesti. Every region is really, really different. Like... this place kind of reminds me of the Riverlands - that's where Alfyn is from. But where I grew up, you'd never, ever see as much greenery as this place has. The only reason we had any trees or anything was because my family had enough money to maintain them.
And then the place that I live now... it's frigid, frigid cold. All the time. I swear, it snows every single day. I thought I'd never get used to it! And there are so many different creatures everywhere, too.
Yes, definitely. [ yes he's from a place called the cliftlands... you'll never guess what the terrain there is... it will shock and surprise you (its cliffs)
as for the animal question, rondo nods, smile on his face. ]
Mmhmm! They usually tend to like me? I don't know why. [ it because he's a dog ] Maybe it's because I really like them!
