[ MY BLUE FIRE!!! "the mods said its creepy" false spiders rondo is an outlier who loves the blue fire more than anyone in scawwy combined.
anyway. he gives the crow a gentle pat when it comes by if it will let him, and as war approaches, rondo takes a slight step back, just enough to bow with his hand to his heart before it straightens again. ]
...We couldn't figure out who killed him. [ across his chest, new inky words read - it happening twice. lmao! ] I'm glad - we were able to stop Sir Boothill, but...
[ STOP THAT? stop that. the crow will allow the pet, but then immediately turns around and pecks rondo for it like a cat does when it's overstimulated but wants the attention.
stop bowing also. ]
You were worrying too much. I don't think what happened to him had anything to do with you all. The rest of us are going to have to be more careful going forward.
[ ow. he sees. this crow is going to become his best friend eventually. he is learning.
anyway - his response is immediate and impassioned as always, deeply laced with worry. ] But - doesn't it have everything to do with us? If you all weren't helping us, then...
[ he wouldn't have even been in this situation in the first place.... thankfully, he doesn't finish his sentence, shutting his mouth. because listen he does recognize he probably is worrying Too Much even if it is really!! hard not to worry!!! sometimes your heart is big.
rondo works his jaw for a second, quieting. ]
...They... that poster said traitor. [ does your face still say traitor. rondo does not sound accusatory, he just sounds worried. ] Will you and Famine be alright...?
As long as we lie low, do as we're told, act normally - we will be fine. As long as the rest of you don't try anything ridiculous either, we will be fine.
You did it. You found the one who had become unstable.
[ don't ya hear me boothill just died we're traumatized.
war's presence, as straightforward as it is, is kind of soothing. it's like talking to sazantos - at least, from before. they don't sugarcoat, and it's the kind of thing that rondo needs to hear.
his eyes scan over the mask one more time, like he's deciding... and eventually, he accepts it with a little nod. ]
... It's... not unusual for things like that to happen, at home. For different reasons, but... I know what's next. I know capturing him was the right thing to do. [ sometimes - sometimes, someone is too far gone. sometimes they have to be put down. it doesn't suck any less, but it's the right thing to do. rondo really liked boothill. he needs to pick better heroes.
... ]
What about his partner? What's going to happen to them...?
I won't pretend it is easy even if such things for me have always been common place among what I do where I'm from. Outside of the opportunity for a system of innocence and guilt without a ruler's wisdom.
[ they shakes their head. ]
No connection of partnership was ever made, so I don't believe their lives would have been tied together.
[ it's not too long ago that queen alaune spared someone's life, after all. rondo wasn't there for it, but it was the news. for a moment, a brief, selfish moment, he sort of wishes she was here. she'd know what to do. ]
... That's... good. At least. [ ... ] Do you... are you able to feel it, do you think? If your partner... dies?
[ and then, a little more rambly as the thought occurs to him - rondo chews on his lip, like he's trying to think it through. ] ... I wish we had a bestiary.
... Could I? Ask for one officially. Even something really basic would be helpful. I think... learning everything we can is really important, and it's not like there's a library or anything... so maybe that would help.
[ the braincells... they are rubbing together... be proud of him... ] I thought it might be helpful to gather everyone together and talk about what they know about monsters where they're from, too. If there's one - even if it has a different name... but if it shows up in a lot of places, then maybe it might be represented here. Right?
I would like to learn a little more about my own, but - besides that, it might help us get an idea if this happens again. Miss Kate and I were talking about how hard it is to know what people are capable of when the things we've seen so far are all so different! I mean, Sir Boothill's... um, tentacles, were a lot different than "making people fall in love with each other". Or, um. Lying.
Let's see what requesting one brings you first, if anything.
[ interlibrary loaning. ]
For what it's worth, I would not put a lot of weight into abilities modeling their monsters completely without us seeing more evidence of that being confirmed true. Any transformations from being afflicted would be slight initially.
Even with these cases today, there were assumptions of powers and transformations which may have cause confusion.
...That's right. Something like the fire and the... um. Extra hand... That's a lot, for someone who just has their own powers, right? Mine's not very strong.
[ nodding...! okay. right. don't get ahead of yourself. use your brain, rondo. try to use your brain.
there's a beat, and then he smiles a little at them, ducking his head. ] Talking with you always makes me feel more clear-headed. Thank you, War.
Yes, exactly. And those may not have even been a part of what happened to Boothill, but what happened to Nehan instead. If so, if we now know the cult had a hand in it... What we all found doesn't surprise me.
[ he's trying so hard to use his brain, even if war doesn't think he should. brain less. the weight of knowledge is agony. ]
...You're welcome, but you don't need to thank me.

I do not know, but I can make an educated guess you may feel the essence of them disappear.
[ not the bestiary. ]
You can try to put in an order for one, but I cannot guarantee you will receive it.
