... the country was in a state of crisis. The majority of the population had already thought of me as their god for the past hundred years, and since they assumed that I would be the one to bring them salvation, it made the most sense to them.

The current system of government is set up so that they'll be able to govern themselves, but when it was in its growing pains, they needed some reliability. To them, that was me.

And then I left because I didn't want them to grow complacent.
